Facebook has surpassed expectations by posting $6.44 billion in revenue and $0.97 EPS, up 63 percent year over year, compared to $6.02 billion and $0.82 EPS as analysts expected.
Mobile ad revenue accounted for 84% of the total revenue, i.e.$5.42 billion, up 81 percent year over year. Monthly active users hit 1.71 billion during the quarter, while daily active users hit 1.13 billion.
According to the company, monthly users on mobile increased 20 percent year over year, and daily users on mobile increased 22 percent year over year.
Expectedly, shares rose more than 6 percent after hours, over $131 per share. The stock’s all-time closing high during regular hours is $121.92.
“Our community and business had another good quarter,” said Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook founder and CEO. “We’re particularly pleased with our progress in video as we move towards a world where video is at the heart of all our services.”
