Many of you would want first of all want to understand, what’s Samsung’s Tizen OS and what devices is it on? Correct. You’ve undoubtedly heard of Android, Windows, MacOS and iOS, perhaps even WatchOS, but while those are undoubtedly the most well-known operating systems in our world of smart connected tech, they’re not alone. In fact, there’s one OS called Tizen, which you might have in your living room and not even realise it.
For the tech fans, Tizen is a known entity. It’s mostly regarded as the operating system that Samsung has built its wearable devices on, but that only tells part of the story. Tizen OS has been around for some time, and it’s not just on watches and fitness trackers.

What exactly is Tizen?
The simplest answer would be to say that it’s a custom operating system developed by Samsung. Look at Tizen’s own “about” page and you’ll discover Tizen is in fact a multi-faceted operating system. That’s to say, it’s a core OS that has different versions, depending on what device it’s on. It’s open source too, so developers are free to use it, build on it, and develop use cases for it. Although it’s pretty much only Samsung who develops anything consumer facing from it.
It’s built on Linux base framework, like so many of today’s various operating systems, and it’s so flexible it can be used on smartphones, smartwatches/wearables, in-car infotainment systems and TVs, among other devices with screens (even fridge-freezers). Today, you’re most likely to see it on a Samsung smartwatch or TV however.
Alright going back to the issue at hand of facebook removing all its main applications on Tizen store- a report said that this plan would not represent a nuisance to users; Since the Tizen OS application for smartphones has become practically lifeless, but removing the applications in this case will also affect the already installed applications, that is, they will not be practically usable on Tizen smartphones.
It is noteworthy that the WhatsApp application was the most downloaded on the platform after it appeared on the store of the South Korean phone and electronics giant; Because WhatsApp was the only major messaging program available on Tizen-based smartphones.
Facebook, Messenger and Instagram have also been at the top of download lists for years, however; Since Tizen phones have become obsolete, Facebook no longer sees the benefit of being in the store.
A report indicated that Facebook’s decision can be considered completely logical, given that no new smartphones running on the Tizen operating system have been released for several years in total, and Samsung has only released four smartphones based on Tizen, the most recent of which is Samsung Z4, which was released in the year 2017.
Despite this, smartphones equipped with Tizen provide good performance and are relatively inexpensive, so they sell well in the markets of India, Bangladesh and South Africa. These were the details of the news Facebook removes all its apps from the “Tizen” store for this day. We hope that we have succeeded by giving you the full details and information.
