Facebook and Twitter are working hard to ensure all false or misleading information about Covid-19 is removed from their social platforms.
In October 2020, Facebook announced a new policy to block ads that discourage the use of vaccines.
Early this morning, Monday 15th, the CEO, Mark Zuckerberg announced in a blog post that the company is adding labels to Facebook and Instagram posts that discuss the vaccines.
According to Mark, these labels contain credible information about the safety of COVID-19 vaccines from the World Health Organization. The label has already been rolled out in English, Spanish, Indonesian, Portuguese, Arabic and French languages. Facebook promises to add other languages as the weeks go by.
In addition to this, Facebook is adding a particular feature on its platform that will help its users get vaccinated. This tool will help them with information about where and when they can get their shot with a link to make an appointment.
The CEO, Mark Zukerberg, also confirmed this in a Facebook post, which says, “Today we’re launching a global campaign to help bring 50 million people a step closer to getting Covid-19 vaccines”. His company will be working closely with national and global health authorities and using their scale to reach people quickly.
