Facebook Messenger is reportedly testing a new feature called Split Payments. This feature will allow users to share the cost of bills and expenses from within a group chat.
The company in a blog post said, “If you’ve struggled with dividing up (and getting paid back for) group dinners, shared household expenses, or even the monthly rent, it’s about to get easier. Next week for Messenger fans in the US, we’re starting to test Split Payments, a free and fast way to share the cost of bills and expenses.”
To use the Split Payments feature, users will have to click the ‘Get Started’ button in a group chat or the Payments field in Messenger. After that, they can split a bill equally or modify the amount expected from each individual. A personalized message is entered and a confirmation of Facebook Pay details, after which the request will be sent and viewable in the group chat thread.
