Social media giant Facebook is testing dark mode for its mobile apps. According to the company, the dark mode is available for “a small percentage of users globally right now.”
Facebook’s dark mode testing for its mobile app comes after the company introduced the dark mode for its desktop upgrade last month.
The company’s other platforms like Instagram, Whatsapp, and Facebook Messenger all have dark modes already. Twitter has had a version of night mode for its Android and iOS apps for some time, and even Google rolled out a dark mode for its app earlier this year.
Facebook’s version of Dark Mode is going to be quite different from that on Instagram and Messenger as it is not a jet black interface but a grayscale design with white accents for logos and icons.
The Dark Mode gives users the choice to lower brightness with contrast and vibrancy. It reduces the disturbing screen glare while using a phone in low light.
The desktop version has also been updated to give a more clutter free browsing experience, similar to the social network’s application. Facebook also claimed that the new site is much faster and they have made it easier for users to find videos, games and groups.
