According to a report by The Information, it seems Facebook is about to get into the virtual assistant game along side with other tech giants who currently have virtual assistant of their own – Apple with Siri, Google followed up with Google Now and Microsoft with Cortana. The Information didn’t elaborate on the virtual assistant, except for its codename which is “Moneypenny” and also that it could be making its way to the company’s hugely popular Messenger application, so I doubt this will be a standalone app.
It’s still unclear what feature this app will come with but a key differentiator with Moneypenny is that you’ll be able to ask real people for help with things, at least that’s what we’ve gotten so far and also that Facebook employees are testing the product. The publication doesn’t elaborate much beyond this point. No details on launch date for the app is included in the report.
