Facebook users can now make group calls over the internet to as many as 50 people with its Messenger app.
Making the announcement via a Facebook post, David Marcus, the head of Messenger posted, “Really excited to announce the global roll-out of group calling in Messenger. From any group conversations, just tap on the phone icon to initiate a group call. You can then manage individual participants on the next screen. If you have the latest version of Messenger, you should see the phone icon appear in group conversations. Give it a try, and as always, let us know how we can make it even better for you.”
With this group call, Facebook is making a coordinated attempt to keep its over 900 million active users on Messenger, yet it still cannot compete with Google Hangout or Skype for video calls.
