Etisalat Nigeria on Wednesday said that as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strides, it had initiated the first West African Masters programme in Telecoms Engineering.
The company, in a statement by its Public Relations Consultants, The Quadrant Company, said the programme was instituted in Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria under its Adopt-A-School Initiative.
The statement, signed by Kenneth Obasi, said that some of the company’s other CSR initiatives in the education sector included career counseling and the annual Etisalat Merit Awards.
It explained that under the awards, the company provides grants for university students.
It added that the awards were to benefit students studying Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science and Business Administration.
The statement quoted Enitan Denloye, Etisalat’s Director, Brands and Communications, as saying that for its efforts, it received an award at the annual Social Enterprise Reports and Awards (SERA).
It said the award was for the best company in partnership development.
“We are pleased to be recognised for the quality of our partnerships. It is even more gratifying to know that the partnerships have had the impact we expected in communities and in the lives of individuals,’’ it quoted Denloye as saying.
The company pledged to continue to provide creative solutions for its customers.
