The Global Startup Awards Africa is encouraging African innovators and entrepreneurs to submit their entries for the 2024 edition of the competition, with the deadline set for 5th May 2024. The award categories are focused on providing solutions for major global issues aligned with both the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals and African Union Agenda. These areas include green-tech, health-tech, agri-tech, fintech, mobility and logistics, and women in tech.
In acknowledgment of Africa’s youthful demographic, where 60% of the population is under 25, making it the youngest continent worldwide, a Youth Startup category has been introduced. This category is designated for participants who are under the age of 26.
Winners of the competition will progress through the national and regional rounds, culminating in the GSA Africa Summit hosted in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This event, considered a week-long celebratory festival, is an excellent opportunity for participants to network and display their innovations.
The statement from the organizers detailed that attendees at the summit would include ambassadors, foreign investors, corporate leaders, and government figures. They further stated that winners would gain access to the Global Innovation Initiative Group Africa fund and the Global Startup Awards Alumni Network.
