Calls are on for entrepreneurs from around the globe to apply for the D-Prize Competition, which offers funding of up to US$20,000 to social impact startups.
The D-Prize Competition seeks to expands access to poverty-alleviation interventions in the developing world. The Prize holds the belief that many solutions to poverty already exist, but there lies a challenge in distributing these solutions to the people who need it most.
The program produces new “distribution entrepreneurs” – social entrepreneurs who start new ventures that distribute proven life-enhancing technologies to millions of people living in extreme poverty.
Its chains of 17 challenges covers social spheres which includes: Girl’s Education, Agriculture, Energy, Global Health, Education, Governance and Infrastructure and Custom.
The best startups stand the chance to win up to US$20,000 to launch a pilot in any region where extreme poverty exists. Also about 25 of the most promising proposals will be selected for funding awards, regardless of which challenge track was selected.
D-Prize is open to aspiring entrepreneurs from anywhere in the world, of any age, and any background.
The program will also consider funding existing organizations only if: they are piloting a new distribution-focused initiative, and they need high risk capital.
Applications are open until April 23.
