#EndSARS protest continues on Social Media as casualties trail curfew imposed by some states #LekkiMassacre

Yesterday night, 20.10.2020, was a bloody night in Nigeria with the #EndSARS protest reaching a crescendo. The protests have now turned into riots with hoodlums infiltrating the protesting youths and causing havoc and mayhem. In one of the states, Edo State, over 1000 prisoners broke out of two prisons. Shops and markets were razed to the ground.

In an attempt to stop the riots, many governments imposed 24-hour curfew in the states. Unfortunately protesters did not obey the curfew and security agents got involved.

For example, in Lagos Nigeria, the state governor imposed a curfew yesterday at 4.00p.m. in the state. However the protestors did not heed to the call. So security agents moved in and shot at the protesters thereby causing fatalities.

This has started new hashtags such as #LekkiMassacre #BlackTuesdayNigeria #LekkiGenocide

The results of the bloody nights are trending on social media with international leaders getting involved now.

US Presidential Aspirant, Joe Biden, issued a press release stating the following:

“I urge President Buhari and the Nigerian military to cease the violent crackdown on protesters in Nigeria, which has already resulted in several deaths. My heart goes out to all those who have lost a loved one in the violence. The United States must stand with Nigerians who are peacefully demonstrating for police reform and seeking an end to corruption in their democracy. I encourage the government to engage in a good-faith dialogue with civil society to address these long-standing grievances and work together for a more just and inclusive Nigeria.“

I’m calling on @mbuhari and the @hqnigerianarmy to stop killing young #EndSARS protesters. #StopNigeriaGovernment

For 12 days, our young kept peacefully and intelligently asking @MBuhari to #EndSARS .

The best response he could give was ask the @HQNigerianArmy to kill as many of them as possible in #LekkiGenocide.

We, Women of Nigeria now arise and say #RatherUsThanOurChildren #EndSARS
