Elon Musk is reported to be making Twitter’s content less accessible to non-registered users

Looks like Elon Musk’s Twitter platform is preventing “outsiders” from accessing tweets without a registered account. As reported by The Verge, this recent change means that users will now need to be signed in to a Twitter account to browse tweets, user profiles, and comment threads on the web.

Twitter, which has remained silent about this update until now, previously allowed limited access to its platform without an account. Users were able to view public tweets and user profiles but were unable to like or leave comments. However, the report claims a Twitter window prompts non-logged-in users to either sign in or create a new account. This effectively restricts them from viewing tweets, user profiles, and browsing through comment threads.

After extensive testing on various browsers and devices, it has been confirmed that Twitter is effectively blocking access to tweets unless users are logged in or have an existing account. This recent change is expected to raise concerns among individuals who believe that the platform’s usefulness is diminishing with each subsequent modification.

One possible motive behind this move could be to encourage silent lurkers to create Twitter accounts, potentially boosting the platform’s user base. However, this strategy may backfire as it risks making Twitter’s content less accessible to the general public. With tweets no longer being publicly accessible, search engine algorithms might rank Twitter’s content lower, resulting in fewer people being directed to the site from platforms like Google.

Twitter’s recent changes, including this restriction on tweet access, have raised questions about the platform’s future direction and its impact on user experience. As the company aims to navigate its growth trajectory, it will need to carefully consider the potential consequences of such alterations on its user base and overall platform visibility.

Innovation Village has been closely monitoring Elon Musk’s engagement with Twitter, and as the platform continuously evolves, it presents a blend of opportunities and challenges. Only time will unveil the actual impact of these strategic decisions on Twitter’s position in the ever-changing social media landscape.
