Elon Musk’s poll to resign as Twitter head might just be a gesture

Billionaire Elon Musk humbly admits he wants a new Twitter head, after several attempts to want to “save the business”.

He made this known in a reply to a poll he tweeted seeking the opinion of users whether to continue as head of Twitter or to step down so someone else can take over; seeing that some changes made to policies affected a lot of users on the platform.

I will resign as CEO as soon as I find someone foolish enough to take the job! After that, I will just run the software & servers teams.

Unfortunately, Twitter polls are straw polls which, professionally,  dont match up with scientific surveys of public opinion. They’re also to malicious bots and fake accounts which can also participate in the vote.

A CNBC report, however, hinted that Elon Musk has been searching for a new Twitter head even before he sort the opinions of users using the poll.

Musk had earlier told a court in November, that he expects to reduce his time at the company and find somebody else to run Twitter over time. He testified in a case in which Tesla shareholder Richard J. Tornetta has alleged that the CEO’s compensation was excessive.

Musk had told investors in May that he only wants to serve as Twitter’s CEO for a short period of time. This was after a SEC filing onp revealed Musk secured approximately $7.14 billion in equity commitments from friends and other investors to buy Twitter.

Musk is getting more and more pressure from big Tesla investors to hire someone to take over Twitter and refocus on Tesla, which has been the main reason for his success.

“Tesla’s stock price,” The Verge reports, “has continued to plummet, even as Musk has actively discussed finding a replacement, which suggests he and his investors are in for more pain down the road.”

This poll might be an empty gesture, then. Perhaps just to let Twitter users think they’ve had some say in the process because, fundamentally, he wants people to like him.

In as much as the former billionaire is an entrepreneur, I believe Elon Musk is driven by new technologies and innovation, hence he would rather pick his electric-car company, Tesla over Twitter.
