Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, two prominent figures in the tech industry, have engaged in a playful banter about a hypothetical cage fight between them. While the idea of a physical showdown between the two billionaires may seem far-fetched, the exchange has caught the attention of social media users worldwide.
The sparks flew when Musk responded to a report about Meta’s Twitter rival (reportedly called, “Threads”), where Meta’s chief product officer, Chris Cox, mentioned the interest in having a platform that is “sanely run.” In a tweet, someone warned Cox about Zuckerberg’s jiu-jitsu skills, to which Musk wittily replied, “I’m up for a cage match if he is.”
Seizing the opportunity to play along, Zuckerberg shared the screenshot of the exchange on his Instagram story, adding the caption, “Send Me Location.” The playful exchange between the two influential entrepreneurs quickly gained traction on various social media platforms.
It is worth noting that Zuckerberg has been dedicatedly training in Brazilian jiu-jitsu for approximately a year now, and his progress has been publicly documented. In May, the Meta CEO mentioned in a Facebook post that he participated in a tournament, securing both gold and silver medals. Musk, on the other hand, humorously mentioned a move called “The Walrus” but clarified that it simply entails lying on top of the opponent without any further action.
While the term “Walrus” holds different associations, including a marine mammal and a digital banking platform, Musk’s reference seems to draw inspiration from how walruses are often depicted lying flat on the ground. The amusement derived from Musk’s interpretation further adds to the lightheartedness of the exchange.
Amidst the light-hearted banter, Musk proposed the UFC Octagon in Las Vegas as the potential venue for the fight. Considering both Musk and Zuckerberg’s inclination towards monetising their respective platforms, live streaming the event as pay-to-view on Twitter Blue and Meta Verified seems like a savvy business move.
While the chances of an actual cage fight taking place remain uncertain, the public’s fascination with the prospect is undeniable.
As tech enthusiasts eagerly await any further developments, it is important to remember that the exchange between Musk and Zuckerberg, though amusing, may ultimately stay in the realm of banter. As the story unfolds, only time will tell if this playful challenge escalates to the octagon or remains a playful exchange between two visionary leaders.
