Egyptian e-sport s tournament platform and gaming hub GBarena has raised seed investment from HIMangel.
Founded by Samer Wagdy, Mustafa Zaza and Bishoy Mesdary GBarena is a gaming community that is specifically tailored for gamers. The Platform helps gamers connect and challenge each other while enabling them to join a set of local and global tournaments by providing tournaments’ organizers with a platform that automates the whole process of managing and creating tournaments from A-Z and also connecting organizers to potential sponsors.
GBarena’s platform handles the registration, scheduling of matches, bracket generation, notification of users about their upcoming matches, match results, loser elimination all the way to announcing the final winners. The platform also empowers tournament organizers with a handful features such as the ability to add moderators, to assist in tournament management, or to stay in touch with participants using different communication channels.
Commenting on the funding, the Chairman of HIMangel Khaled Ismail said, At HIMangel, we look for startups that have identified a “blue ocean” to compete in; this certainly applies to GBarena which is a clear leader in the eSports industry in the entire Middle East.
“We believe that working together with the passionate and capable team of GBarena, we will be able to grow in an exponential fashion within the coming near future,” he adds.
Also, speaking on the development, the CEO of GBarena Wagdy said, “Being gamers ourselves we witnessed first-hand the growth of esports before it became viral. It is now a huge business with lots of challenges, which translate into opportunities.
“GBarena is like the virtual stadium where all that hype takes place in. Some tournament organizers until this moment use pen and paper to collect registration and schedule their tournaments, while the more professional ones use Excel sheets. We are determined to change that,” Wagdy adds.
Interestingly, Esports is a booming industry. A single title tournament had the finals held on-ground with over 40,000 attendees, 40 million online views and a prize pool of $20 million.
