Econet Zimbabwe has partnered with MTN Zambia to enable cross border remittances. This means that an MTN Zambia subscriber can transfer money from his MTN Mobile Money wallet to an Econet Subscriber’s EcoCash wallet.

This partnership was officially launched this week amidst fanfare at the Meikles hotel in Harare, Zimbabwe. EcoCash general manager Natalie Jabangwe-Morris and Zambian counterpart Wane Ng’ambi of MTN officially signed the partnership.

All an MTN Zambia subscriber has to do to send money is to initiate a money transfer request by sending a USSD short code and select an EcoCash Zimbabwe mobile number

According to Econet Wireless, someone in Zambia will send money by registering with MTN Zambia and then initiating a money transfer request via a USSD mobile Money short code, and selecting EcoCash (ZW) mobile number.
