    Ecobank announces 2020 edition of the Fintech Challenge

    Ecobank Group has announced the 2020 edition of Fintech Challenge which is set to take place in Togo, in June at Ecobank Group’s headquarters.

    The Ecobank Fintech Challenge comprises a business boot camp, afterwhich will be and Innovations Fair and Awards session.

    All the finalists will be inducted into Ecobank’s Fintech Fellows.

    Ecobank held the first fintech challenge in 2017, and has since had two successful editions, the 2020 edition will be the third.

    Ecobank will accept submissions from any fintech startups across Africa.

    The selected startups stand a chance of partnering with Ecobank to roll-out their solutions across Ecobank’s 33 markets in Africa and France.

    “As a banking group we continue to be amazed at the many ways in which fintech are transforming banking across Africa. We look forward to the new innovations and partnership opportunities  that will come with the 2020 edition,” notes Ecobank Group Executive, Operations & Technology, Eddy Ogbogu.

    Djiba Diallo, Ecobank Senior Fintech Advisor, said “The Ecobank Fintech Challenge and fellowship creates additional value for Ecobank and the Fintechs. We took feedback from the past editions and one of the major innovation this year is  the opportunity for shortlisted Fintech’s to access our APIs through our Pan African Sandbox.”

    Ecobank has also partnered with advisory firm, Konfidants, and several other partners from Africa and globally.

    Ecobank fellows stand a chance to gain all the following opportunities:

    1. Multinational product roll-out: an opportunity to pursue integration with Ecobank and potentially launch products in Ecobank’s Pan African footprint
    2. Service provider partnerships. Ecobank may select start-ups as a pan-African service partner within the bank’s ecosystem.
    3. Access to Ecobank’s Pan-African Banking Sandbox. Fellows will earn access to Ecobank’s APIs to test and improve their products for the pan-African market.
    4. Mentoring and networking support in the network of global and African partners of the Group.

    Applications for the competition will close on the 12th of April, 2020.
