With more than 100 million searches a day, DuckDuckGo has become a very popular search engine. In 2021, the company is expected to grow by almost 47%.
DuckDuckGo says that, unlike other search engines, they don’t keep track of what you search for or what you do on other sites. DuckDuckGo search pages don’t build user profiles to show interest-based ads. Instead, they show contextual ads based on the keywords that people search for. To put it another way, if you search for “Television” on DuckDuckGo, you won’t see television adverts on any other websites you visit.
DuckDuckBot spider crawls sites and receives data from partners, such as Wikipedia and Bing, to construct its search index. They don’t, however, use Google’s data to build their index.
When compared to Google, DuckDuckGo’s annual growth has been quite significant. There were 23.6 billion search queries on DuckDuckGo in 2020. By December, the site averaged 79 million search queries per day.
This year, DuckDuckGo saw a 46.4% increase in the number of searches performed, bringing the total number of searches performed by the search engine to 34.6 billion.
Even though DuckDuckGo has grown a lot, it still only has 2.53 percent of the total market share. Yahoo has 3.3%, Bing has 6.43, and Google has 87.33 percent of the search engine traffic in the United States.
There is also a good chance that more people will switch to search engines that are more concerned about privacy. This is because people are getting tired of how tech companies like Google, Facebook, Microsoft, and Apple use their data.
In 2021, DuckDuckGo came out with an email forwarding service called “Email Protection.” This service removes email trackers and lets you hide your real email address, so you can keep your privacy even safer. The company also came up with “App Tracking Protection for Android,” which stops third-party trackers from Google and Facebook from being found in apps that people use.
It was just announced that the DuckDuckGo Privacy Browser for Desktop, which won’t be based on Chromium, will be available in the near future.
Rather than a “privacy browser,” this is a normal web browser but protects your privacy by preventing companies from tracking your search and browsing history.
The search engine DuckDuckGo may be right for people who want to take back control of their data and be more private when they search for things on the web.
