The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has marked a significant milestone in its digital transformation journey with the launch of its first Tier III certified, carrier-neutral, open-access data center. The facility, a joint venture between Open Access Data Centres (OADC) and TEXAF, known as OADC Texaf Digital, is now operational in Kinshasa.

This development is a game-changer for the DRC, a country with vast potential but facing significant infrastructure challenges. The new data center is expected to serve as a catalyst for economic growth, innovation, and job creation. By providing a secure, reliable, and scalable platform for businesses and government agencies, the facility will support the development of digital services and applications.

The Uptime Institute Tier III certification is a testament to the data center’s world-class standards for availability and redundancy. This ensures that businesses can operate with minimal downtime, protecting their critical data and applications.

The facility’s carrier-neutral status is another key advantage, offering customers the flexibility to choose from multiple network providers. This promotes competition, reduces costs, and enhances service quality.

The launch of OADC Texaf Digital is part of a broader trend of increased data center investment in Africa. As the continent’s digital economy grows, there is a rising demand for robust data infrastructure to support the increasing volume of data generated by businesses and individuals.

While the DRC has made significant strides in recent years to improve its digital landscape, challenges such as limited internet access and infrastructure gaps persist. The new data center represents a step forward in addressing these challenges and creating a more connected and digitally enabled society.

The facility is expected to attract local and international businesses seeking to establish a presence in the DRC. By providing a reliable and secure data center, the country can position itself as a competitive destination for investment and innovation.

As the DRC continues to build its digital ecosystem, the OADC Texaf Digital data center will play a crucial role in supporting the country’s development aspirations.
