    Distributed Power Africa to Build 1.2-Megawatt Solar Plant in Kenya for Africa Data Centres

    The Distribution Power Africa (DPA) a market leader in innovative solar energy solutions has been mandated to build a 1.2-megawatt power plant for Africa Data Centres at its facility in Nairobi, Kenya.

    Africa Data Centres, is a pan-African company that provides data services, and as of late has been expanding its use of solar power.

    This latest solar plant being installed by Distributed Power Africa, adds to solar installations at its Cape Town and Johannesburg centers. Africa Data Centres also has facilities in Harare, Zimbabwe, and Kigali, Rwanda.

    “The power needs of data centers tend to be large and sensitive,” said Norman Moyo, chief executive officer of DPA, in a statement. “Solar can improve the reliability of power supply.”

    Companies across Africa are increasingly turning to solar power to cut costs and improve the reliability of electricity supply in countries with regular grid outages.

    Distributed Power Africa (DPA) have operations in Kenya, South Africa and Zimbabwe. Part of the Econet Group of Companies, Distributed Power Africa (DPA) supplies commercial and industrial customers with efficient, green solar energy installations without an initial capital outlay.
