Early this week, Dimension Data Holdings plc, announced that it has entered into an agreement to sell its distribution business, Express Data, to Dicker Data.
The transaction includes the purchase of Dimension Data’s Australia and New Zealand operations of Express Data and Express Online. The transaction is subject to Dicker Data shareholder approval, and is expected to be completed by 31 March. Dimension Data has not disclosed the purchase price.
According to Dimension Data’s CEO, Brett Dawson, “The decision to sell the entity is part of Dimension Data Group’s strategy to sharpen its focus. While the resale of technology remains a core element of Dimension Data’s value proposition to clients, physical distribution is typically outsourced to specialist distributors. Express Data, a leading distributor in Australia and New Zealand, is our only distribution asset. The sale of the company follows our decision to exit the physical distribution market.”
Express Data and Express Online became part of the Dimension Data family when the Group acquired Com Tech Communications in 1999. Dawson said Dimension Data has enjoyed a fantastic relationship with the management and employees of Express Data and Express Online. “Dicker Data will be gaining a great team of 350 employees who have built an outstanding business and have been fantastic contributors to Dimension Data over many years,” he said.
