According to a Disrupt Africa report, DigsConnect, a student accommodation marketplace in South Africa, has raised R12 million ($830,000) in funding to expand its team and product offerings.
Founded in 2017, DigsConnect links hundreds of landlords with student tenants, and students with other students.
DigsConnect started as an idea from co-founder and CEO, Alexandria Procter when she was an undergraduate at the University of Cape Town. She later joined forces with co-founders Greg Keal (head of marketing) and Brendan Ardagh (head of technology) in her postgraduate days to form the company DigsConnect.
In 13 months it has grown to over 50,000 beds in 11 locations around South Africa.
The funding from unnamed investors will be used to expand the tech team as it builds out its platform, as well as for sales and marketing purposes.
According to DigsConnect Alexandria Procter, “It is a very special moment for me, and in our company’s life. Our growth has been fantastic, and our team has grown from strength to strength. I’m so proud of my incredible team. All I can say is watch this space, because we’re just getting started.”
