develoPPP Ventures, an entrepreneurial support program launched by Germany’s Federal Development Ministry (BMZ), has opened applications for its 10th cohort, offering post-revenue startups the chance to secure EUR 100,000 (US$115,000) in catalytic funding and technical support to scale.
The initiative operates through a matching-funds model in partnership with DEG – Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH, providing grant financing of EUR 100,000 to startups that have:
- Achieved proof of concept
- Demonstrated market traction
- Are ready to scale operations
The program targets businesses delivering positive social, economic, or environmental impact in developing regions.
In Kenya, develoPPP Ventures is led by DEG Impulse, with implementation support from VC4A and Viktoria Ventures. The program specifically backs innovative post-revenue startups that can drive development outcomes while building sustainable business models.
Since its inception in 2019, develoPPP Ventures has:
- Supported around 100 companies in East Africa
- Maintained an active portfolio of 59 companies
- Enabled participating startups to raise 4x additional investment after joining the program
