On Monday(15/04/2013), the Google Mirror API, which allows developers to begin creating applications for Glass was released. Web-based services called “Glassware” will interact with Glass over the cloud-based API, and will not require any code to be run on the Glass hardware.
According to Timothy Jordan, Google’s senior developer advocate, the API has a few key features that will go into applications: managing timeline cards, interacting with menu items, subscribing to timeline notifications, sharing to contacts and working with user location.
To help developers get started, Google has posted a developer guide, reference documentation and UI guidelines for each function on its Developers site, along with a short video explaining each, featuring Jordan.
