The Executive Vice Chairman (EVC) of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Umar Danbatta and the Commission as a public entity have received separate awards at the Nigeria Tech Innovation & Telecom Awards (NTITA) 2019.
At the just-concluded and well-attended annual event held at the Oriental Hotel, Lagos on September 28, 2019, Danbatta was outstandingly recognized as ‘Telecom Personality of the Year,’ based on his excellent performance as the chief executive of the nation’s telecoms regulatory authority.
Similarly, the Commission – as a corporate entity – was also received the ‘Regulator of the Year Award’.
Receiving the award on behalf of the EVC and the Commission at the event, Tokunbo Oyeleye, Deputy Director, New Media and Information Security, NCC, said the two awards were a testament to the efforts of the Commission in driving digital growth frontier for the economy and also a challenge to the Commission to sustain the momentum.
The NTITA, third in the series, is an initiative of the Association of Telecoms Companies of Nigeria (ATCON), designed, in collaboration with its consultant, Instinct Wave, to celebrate the continued growth and success of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) marketplace and focus on the exceptional and innovative performance within the industry.
The Award holds annually and it is marked by the recognition of individual and corporate excellence focused on the growth of the digital ecosystem in Nigeria.
