Jumia Nigeria in partnership with ‘1 Child 1 Book’ Foundation launched a CSR initiative to help improve the literacy rate of thousands of children in Nigeria, by providing books every month to schools across the country. This partnership was nominated in the Best CSR Initiative of the Year in the recent World retail Awards 2014 and has seen thousands of children reached since inception.
Talking about the collaboration, Tosin Jegede of the 1 Child 1 Book said;
“Our Mission is through the involvement of dynamic partners, provide sustainable tools that will further the educational development of Nigerians, starting with primary school education and we, in collaboration with Jumia Nigeria, we will stop at nothing to ensure this becomes a reality”
To further promote literacy, this Christmas, Jumia together with the ‘1 Child 1 Book foundation’ an initiative of the Tosin Jegede Foundation will be embarking on building a state-of-the-art Library with up-to-date tools such as computers, game sections and many other learning tools for the Nigerian Children across the state.

Up till date Jumia Nigeria and ‘1 Child 1 Book’ have embarked on monthly book drives across Lagos, touching the lives of well over 1,500 kids till date across 6 communities, with recent plans to reach out to kids outsid’8e of Lagos in 2015.
