Portuguese and Juventus football star, Cristiano Ronaldo has become the first person in the world to hit 300 million followers on Instagram. He was also the first person to cross the 200 million mark on the platform.
He is followed by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson with 246 Million Followers. Both are followed by Ariana Grande, Kylie Jenner, Selena Gomes, Kim Kardashian, and the list goes on.
The much-decorated Ronaldo is a global sporting icon who has broken some of the most iconic records at every club he has played for. He started his professional footballing career at Sporting Lisbon after which he moved to Manchester United and then secured a then-record fee move to Real Madrid and currently plays for Italian giants Juventus.
The 36-year-old is his country’s top-scoring player with 106 goals to his name. He scored two goals in only his first game at the ongoing 2020 European Championships against Hungary, marking his 5th appearance at the quadrennial event, which is also a record.
According to reports last year, Ronaldo is the highest-earning celebrity on Instagram. From March 2019 to March 2020; Ronaldo earned the most money on Instagram from sponsored posts. He bagged $50.3 million which is way more than the salary he earns ($33m) at his football club Juventus. His earnings were way more than even internet celebrity Kylie Jenner.
He was also the top-earning athlete in 2021, earning a total of $120 million. He has more than 500 followers cumulatively on social media platforms Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
Aside from Ronaldo’s salary and earnings from social media, he also has a lucrative deal with Nike and many other big brands. He has his fashion brand — CR7 — that carries everything from shoes and cleats, to denim, to underwear and even fragrances.
