Creation Capital invests $4,2M into Quest Capital Solutions to boost SME transport financing

Creation Capital, a South African-based private credit asset manager, has finalized a R75 million (approximately $4.2 million) debt investment into Quest Capital Solutions, a specialist provider of rent-to-own financing for trucks and trailers in the SME transport sector.

Founded in 2012, Quest Capital Solutions has built a comprehensive offering that includes financing, asset management, servicing and maintenance, and insurance all tailored to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) operating in logistics and transport. The company’s integrated model allows SMEs to access critical transport assets without the burden of upfront capital or fragmented service providers.

Freddy Magoro, Chief Investment Officer at Creation Capital, highlighted the broader economic significance of the deal.

Traditional capital markets have shown reluctance to lend to smaller businesses, especially under non-standard terms. This has severely constrained access to financing for SMEs. Private credit managers like Creation Capital are uniquely positioned to bridge this gap. According to the 2025 Finfind report, South Africa’s SME financing shortfall is estimated at R350 billion (around $19.7 billion), a staggering figure given that SMEs represent 91% of formal businesses in the country, as reported by the Banking Association of South Africa.

Magoro emphasized that Quest Capital Solutions stood out during the investment evaluation process due to its end-to-end service model, which enables SMEs to focus on operations rather than asset management logistics.

Their ability to bundle financing with maintenance and insurance is a key differentiator. It simplifies the operational burden for SMEs and enhances their ability to scale efficiently.

Charl Lehmann, CEO of Quest Capital Solutions, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership:

We are proud to collaborate with Creation Capital through this funding facility. It plays a vital role in supporting our continued growth and expansion. With this capital, we aim to reach new markets and serve a broader range of clients within the transport sector.

The investment is expected to accelerate Quest Capital’s mission to empower SMEs with reliable, scalable transport solutions an essential component of economic activity and job creation in South Africa.
