GT Bank, Africa Finance Corporation have donated a 110-bed isolation centre to aid the Lagos state government in its management of #COVID19 cases in Lagos state. The facility was set up in record time of one week.

GT Bank CEO Segun Agbaje, in the presence of AFC CEO Samaila Zubairu, handed over the facility this evening to the Lagos State Governor.
According to the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu while receiving the facility, “I am very excited to take possession of this 110-bed isolation facility which the Lagos State Government and Guaranty Trust Bank have put together. In our assessment, it is a world-class facility which has been achieved within a week. Contractors at multilevel worked tirelessly to put up the structure.”
“This is a reflection of strong can-do spirit of Nigerians, especially the brand called GTBank. I am happy that the GTBank saw the need for this collaboration. We are going through trying times globally, which is occasioned by unprecedented level of a pandemic. What we are doing in Lagos is that, we are building excess capacity in the event that we witness a spike in cases of COVID-19 infection.”
Training of health workers who will man the facility is scheduled to start on 29th March, 2020.
The facility will complement the Isolation Centre at the Infectious Disease Hospital, IDH, Yaba, Lagos.
As at Friday 27th of March, the total confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 stood at 52, with 49 active and 3 discharged.
