Code Plateau has commenced its recruitment process from a pool of over 550 applicants contending for the limited amount of openings available.

The Code Plateau project, a flagship of the Silicon Plateau project aims to mentor young people in software related fields.  Subsequently, they will be deployed in Jos and to other work stations across Nigeria. The interview process took place yesterday in Jos at five different locations in the city

The Code Plateau is an eight months full-time intensive training created to generate employment opportunities for young  Plateau State graduates who have the desire and passion to start their career in IT and kick-start their portfolio of real-life projects that utilizes modern technology stacks.

According to the Plateau State Information and Communication Technology Development Agency (PICTDA), Code Plateau is one of the human resource developments and training schemes the agency is embarking on to address the high skill shortage in ICT.

Director General of PICTDA, Mr. Daser David said, “Nigeria suffers insufficient numbers of skilled and experienced experts in ICT and in other professions that rely on ICT, PICTDA plans to help fill the gaps and make importing of these needed skills unnecessary.”

The Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong also said,  “Plateau State is blessed with huge human capital. Our bulging youth population is a very special asset that will be aggressively harnessed especially in areas of entrepreneurship and ICT so as to tackle unemployment. Government will maximally utilize the enormous potentials that abound with the creation of the Plateau State Information and Communication Technology Development Agency (PICTDA).”

David also added that the Code Plateau initiative will help to advance the Plateau State Government’s human capital goals.

He said, “This is one of the key focus of the rescue administration towards sustainable economic rebirth. The Plateau State Government through the PICTDA has initiated the Code Plateau program as a platform to re-skill our youth who are interested in kick starting their careers in IT and preparing them for the Job market by providing them a collaborative learning environment with all-around support from technical to industry job readiness.”

Trainees who passed through the Code Plateau program are expected to build impressive, portfolio-ready projects that will show their capacity to add value to their new job as software engineers. This intensive program is for those who are committed to having tangible, job-ready skills upon graduation.

Also, it is important to note that the job placement training is for graduates resident in Plateau State who have completed National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) and are looking for opportunities to grow and increase value to their community, state, and the job market.
