Bullit Group Limited, an international company into the mobile phone and consumer electronics business has partnered with CAT (Caterpillar Inc.) to produce the world’s first Android smartphone with an integrated thermal camera. The CAT S60 has a thermal camera that has the capability to measure the temperature of surfaces at distances of up to 30 meters and detect heat. These kind of devices are usually used by the military and special agents and are very pricey.
However, this thermal camera is now accessible by anyone who owns a smartphone such as the CAT S60. FLIR, a thermal imaging company is responsible for the design of the thermal camera. FLIR is the world’s largest commercial company specializing in the design and production of thermal imaging cameras, components, and imaging sensors. With this camera, users can detect the loss of heat around windows and doors or detect the areas of concentration of moisture. it can also be used to detect overheating or failure of circuits in electrical appliances.
The physical hardware of the CAT S60 is rugged with a little over 12mm thick body. This however is not targeted at the average consumer who like the thin stuff.
