ChatGPT has introduced a year-end recap feature that mirrors the popularity of Spotify Wrapped, giving users a personalized look back at how they used the AI chatbot throughout the year. The feature, called “Your Year with ChatGPT,” is now rolling out to eligible users in select markets, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand.
OpenAI says the experience is available to users on the Free, Plus, and Pro plans, provided they have enabled both “reference saved memories” and “reference chat history,” and have met a minimum level of conversation activity over the past year. Team, Enterprise, and Education accounts are excluded from the rollout.
Designed as a lightweight and privacy-forward experience, Your Year with ChatGPT presents users with a visually engaging summary of their interactions with the chatbot. Similar to Spotify Wrapped, the recap uses colourful graphics, playful language, and personalised insights to reflect how individuals have used ChatGPT across different tasks and interests.
Users receive custom “awards” based on their usage patterns. For example, someone who frequently used ChatGPT to reason through problems or brainstorm ideas might earn a title such as “Creative Debugger.” The experience also generates a short poem and an AI-created image inspired by the user’s most common topics and themes throughout the year, adding a creative layer to the recap.
According to OpenAI, the feature is entirely optional. While it may be highlighted on the ChatGPT home screen, it does not open automatically or interrupt normal use of the app. Users can choose to engage with it at their discretion, or trigger it manually by typing “Your Year with ChatGPT” into the chat interface.
The year-end review is available on both the ChatGPT web app and the mobile apps for iOS and Android. OpenAI emphasised that the experience is user-controlled, with no new data collection beyond what users have already permitted through their existing settings.
The launch reflects a broader trend among consumer technology platforms using personalized year-in-review features to deepen user engagement and emotional connection. As ChatGPT continues to expand its role in everyday work, learning, and creativity, Your Year with ChatGPT offers users a moment to reflect on how the AI has fit into their lives over the past year.
