These are actually oil paintings not photographs even though it may be hard to believe. They are so life-like that Oresegun’s Olumide’s hyper-realistic photos have gone viral. Even CNN has done a feature on him and his works.
Hyperrealism is a genre of painting and sculpture resembling a high-resolution photograph. It is considered to be an advancement of Photorealism by the methods used to create the resulting paintings or sculptures.
The 35 year old Lagos-based Nigerian graduated with a distinction in Fine Art at the Yaba College of Technology , Lagos.
Speaking to CNN, he says he draws his inspiration from his community, creating pieces that reflect the lives of those around him.
His work, he says, is “a gradual process,” taking around two to three weeks to create individual pieces.
“And depending on the intricacy I want to achieve, it can take a couple of months,” he added.
His work on Instagram has already started gaining new followers with over 21.8k followers and counting.
