By Staff Writer on June 30, 2015 News

In a turnaround from its stance not to extend the deadline for the BVN’s registration exercise, the apex bank has changed its mind. CBN has extended the deadline from 30th of June 2015 to 31st of October 2015.

According Dipo Fatokun, Director, Banking and Payments Department “It has come to our notice that the BVN registration has elicited tremendous interest from the Nigeria banks’ customers who crowded the banking halls in order to beat the deadline.

“Furthermore, there is the need to give Nigerian Banks’ customers in diaspora ample time to enroll on the program,” it added.

The statement said it has become imperative for the bank to extend the timeline for all bank customers to have the BVN following the developments.

“The deadline for enrolment is hereby extended from 30th June, 2015 to 31st October, 2015. This extension is expected to facilitate a smooth completion of the registration exercise.” it said.

The guideline for their enrolment is being finalised and will be released soon, it added.
