Nigerians who have been tagging Aba-made products as counterfeit can now abdicate that perception as the Abia State Government is launching, http://madeinaba.com.ng/, an Ecommerce platform for goods made in Aba on October 1st, Nigeria’s independence day.
This was announced in a tweet by Sam Hart, a Senior Special Assistant to the Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu.
Expectedlly, a handful of Nigerians will welcome this news. Unfortunately, for the makers of Aba-made products, Nigerians may be skeptical about shopping on the website because some of the products that hail from Aba are ‘counterfeit’.
Perhaps, this will change with this soon to be launched website if the quality, and standard of the goods sold on the platform are significantly improved. This will in no small measure ensure that Aba-made products contribute ‘officially’ to the diversification of Nigeria’s economy and encourage local production of goods.
