BuuPass, a leading startup in the travel industry, has achieved remarkable milestones, having sold over 16 million travel tickets and generated more than US$100 million in total value of goods sold. The company has also participated in the Google for Startups Accelerator Africa and received backing from the Google for Startups Black Founders Fund. Earlier this year, BuuPass expanded its capabilities by acquiring its counterpart, QuickPass.
FlexPay, on the other hand, is an innovative online and offline payment gateway that enables merchants to offer interest-free targeted savings plans to their customers across Africa. This platform allows merchants to provide their customers with the flexibility to choose how and when to pay for high-value goods and services.
The collaboration between BuuPass and FlexPay introduces a new way for travelers to save for their journeys through manageable, interest-free installments over a period of 4-12 weeks. Travelers can select their travel dates, book tickets, and pay a small deposit upfront, with the remaining balance spread across weekly or monthly payments. This approach offers a stress-free solution for families and large groups to secure their tickets early, helping them avoid last-minute price hikes as fares are locked in.
Sonia Kabra, co-founder of BuuPass, expressed the significance of this partnership, stating,;
By partnering with FlexPay, we’re giving travelers the flexibility to budget for their trips in advance. This initiative aligns with our mission to make travel accessible to everyone, providing a solution that meets customers where they are financially.
Richard Machomba, CEO and Founder of FlexPay, highlighted the shared vision of the partnership, saying;
FlexPay’s mission is to empower individuals by providing accessible financial solutions that make it easier for them to achieve their financial goals. By partnering with BuuPass, we’re making travel more accessible and stress-free for Kenyans, especially during the holiday season when expenses can be overwhelming.
This strategic partnership between BuuPass and FlexPay is set to revolutionize the travel payment landscape in Africa, making travel more accessible and financially manageable for a broader audience.
