Microsoft has finally released three extensions for its Edge browser which will be available for Windows 10 testers. The Windows 10 build 14291 supports three extensions which includes the Microsoft Translator which is a language translator and automatically translates pages in over 50 different languages, the Reddit Enhancement Suite which adds useful features like account switching, comments navigator and User Highlighters. The last extension recognize mouse gestures for things like switching tabs. According to a Microsoft spokesperson, it was stated : “We’re participating in the W3C Browser Extension Community Group’s efforts to define standardized extension APIs based on familiar web technologies,”.Other extensions like Adblock Plus, Amazon, LastPass and Evernote will become available later this year according to Microsoft. For usage, these extensions need to be downloaded on Edge’s current preview version.
Microsoft Edge (codename “Spartan”) is a web browser developed by Microsoft and included in the company’s Windows 10 operating system, replacing Internet Explorer as the default web browser on all device classes. Microsoft claims it is designed to be a lightweight web browser with a layout engine built around web standards.
Edge browser is presently gaining popularity with the download of Microsoft’s latest Windows 10. Though Google Chrome and Firefox have been very much around, We expect more diversion to Edge as the days go by.
