Rain, the South African wireless internet network operator, has announced a significant leadership change. Founder and long-serving CEO Brandon Leigh will be stepping down from his executive role. His brother, Conrad Leigh, who has held key leadership positions within the company, will assume the role of Chief Executive Officer.
Brandon Leigh, who founded Rain and led it from a start-up to a multibillion-rand enterprise, will transition into a new position as a strategic board member. In this capacity, he will continue to influence the company’s long-term direction by providing high-level advisory support.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Rain acknowledged Brandon’s pivotal role in the company’s growth:
As the founder, Brandon Leigh has been the driving force of the company, growing it from a start-up to the multibillion-dollar company it is today.
Conrad Leigh, who most recently served as Rain’s Chief Operating Officer and previously as Chief Technology Officer, brings deep operational and technical expertise to his new role as CEO. His appointment signals a continuation of the company’s strategic vision under familiar leadership.
In addition to his new board responsibilities at Rain, Brandon Leigh will also take on the role of CEO at Rainx, a newly established global technology company. At Rainx, he will focus on product innovation and spearheading international expansion efforts.
“Brandon will take on the role of CEO at Rainx, a global technology company, where he’ll focus on product design and driving international expansion,” the company added.
