BlackBerry’s CEO is Considering Making A Tablet Sometime in the Future

In an interview with CNET at Mobile World Congress, Blackberry’s CEO, John Chen stated that a second BlackBerry tablet is to be released. “It’s not in the works, but it’s on my mind,” Chen told CNET in an interview this week, suggesting that the company doesn’t have any immediate plans for a PlayBook follow-up but one thing is certain, they may be taking another crack at the tablet game sometime in the future.

While BlackBerry doesn’t have immediate plans to launch a tablet, it’s interesting that Chen didn’t dismiss the notion of it when asked. If BlackBerry does get back into the tablet game, don’t expect a bland design.

“I want it to be different. I want it to be iconic. Bringing a tablet out for a tablet’s sake, it’s not the right thing to do;” Chen.

BlackBerry’s original PlayBook was really brief and it really wasn’t as huge of a success as the company would’ve expected it to be, but this time, the CEO thinks there’s a slim possibility for their next tablet to succeed in the tablet market.

Guess we’ll just have to wait to see if BlackBerry will  indeed make a tablet and I hope a really decent device this time but just because BlackBerry’s CEO is considering a tablet doesn’t mean it will happen. Though I’ve always wanted to see BlackBerry 10 running on a tablet but that’s just me.
