BlackBerry announced today that its releasing BBM Meetings, an audio and video conferencing service. This is a huge effort by Blackberry to continue serving its corporate users.
The Meetings feature in BBM is a voice and video teleconferencing solution that will be available to Android, BB10, Windows PC and Mac users. It starts or schedules BBM chats, group chat, or call into a BBM Meeting; sharing and annotating screens and documents with others; and full-screen, high-resolution video and voice quality for up to 25 participants.
This is not on iOS as of now, though it’ll be “coming soon” according BlackBerry’s website.
Invitees can be attend via BBM or email, and the meetings are synced up to your devices calendar automatically.
Perhaps the most convenient aspect of Meetings is that the service will give you a ring when its time for a scheduled conference call, letting you skip the mess of dialing in and having to enter PIN numbers, avoiding these great opportunities to dial incorrectly or having to sift through emails to find the call-in information.
BBM Meetings subscriptions start at $12.50 per host, per month. The service will also be included in the Enterprise Communicator bundle, available starting next month at $12 per month.
