Binance, a global leader in cryptocurrency exchange, has joined forces with AltSchool Africa to offer full-tuition scholarships to 500 young Africans. The initiative, set to run from January 2025 to December 2025, aims to bridge Africa’s digital skills gap by providing specialized training in software engineering, cybersecurity, sales, and content creation. This partnership is designed to empower the next generation with the tools needed to excel in today’s evolving job market.
The scholarships will give recipients access to AltSchool Africa’s structured programs, which focus on cultivating in-demand skills critical for thriving in the global digital economy. Beyond classroom learning, participants will receive mentorship, career support, and practical training, ensuring a solid foundation in their chosen fields. Addressing Africa’s Digital Skills Gap
This collaboration comes at a pivotal moment. According to the International Finance Corporation (IFC), by 2030, 230 million jobs in Sub-Saharan Africa will require digital skills, yet currently, only 2% of the region’s workforce is adequately equipped. Binance and AltSchool Africa’s initiative aims to close this gap by equipping young Africans with expertise in high-demand sectors.
“Through this partnership with AltSchool Africa, we are excited to provide opportunities that will help shape the future of many young students across the continent,” said Samantha Fuller, spokeswoman for Binance. “Technology is a powerful tool for change, and we believe that by investing in education, we are investing in Africa’s future. Our goal is to empower students to become innovators and leaders in the tech space.”
Empowering Africa’s Digital Future
The initiative is part of Binance’s broader commitment to supporting education across Africa, aligning with its mission to build a more inclusive digital economy. This social impact effort reflects Binance’s focus on preparing young people for the Fourth Industrial Revolution, equipping them with the skills to thrive in an increasingly tech-driven world.
AltSchool Africa, a platform dedicated to developing digital skills across the continent, sees this partnership as a transformative opportunity. “With this collaboration, we can reach more young Africans passionate about building careers in the digital economy,” said Nifemi Akinwamide, Head of Global Operations at AltSchool Africa. “We applaud Binance for this incredible initiative, which will positively impact the lives of hundreds across the continent.”
The tech startup recently set up a new campus expanding into Europe after participation in the SuperCharger Ventures accelerator programme and a government-backed growth accelerator in Malta.
Transforming Talent for Global Opportunities
By enhancing local talent, this partnership will position African students for global opportunities in high-demand fields. With the rapid growth of technology and an increasing need for skilled professionals, recipients of these scholarships will be better prepared to compete in global markets.
