Hillary Clinton officially opened a Twitter account on Monday, joining her husband and former United States president Bill Clinton and their daughter, Chelsea Clinton on the microblogging site.
Her official Twitter account, @HillaryClinton, was unlocked and verified on Monday, gaining over 300,000 followers. (As at the time of writing this post, it has already swelled to 428,140 followers). The potential 2016 presidential candidate was also welcomed on Twitter by her family members, her husband who joined Twitter in April welcomed his wife, by asking, “Does @Twitter have a family share plan?”, while their Chelsea Clinton retweeted her mother’s first tweet and added, “Welcome Mom!”
Her bio on Twitter reads “Wife, mom, lawyer, women & kids advocate, FLOAR, FLOTUS, US Senator, SecState, author, dog owner, hair icon, pantsuit aficionado, glass ceiling cracker, TBD…” with TBD meaning “to be determined” FLOAR standing or First Lady of Arkansas and FLOTUS standing for First Lady of the United States.
The former secretary of state, who uses a dark sunglasses wearing stern-faced picture for her profile picture got welcome tweets from talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, billionaire investor Warren Buffett, and President Barack Obama who said “Stay tuned for the real #TweetsFromHillary.”
