Vodacom Tanzania addresses the hindrance of mobile penetration rate in Africa, and poor access to electricity with the ReadySet chargers that have solar and bicycle charging options.
“There are millions of Tanzanians who do not have access to electricity, most of whom live in rural areas. With the introduction of ReadySet mobile chargers, they are set to charge their mobile phones and keep in touch with their loved ones,” Vodacom Tanzania Managing Director Renee Meza said.
He also lauded the product, calling it a breakthrough in mobile phone use in the country because it will keep phone users on the service.
Vodacom Tanzania and energy firm Fenix International entered into an exclusive agreement to launch ReadySet mobile chargers in Tanzania from March 2013.
Statistics have shown that rural areas in Africa and even major cities like Lagos suffer constant which have led to such innovations.
