Nigeria is one of those countries that is richly blessed with natural resources but has been plagued with bad leadership for so long.
The unemployment rate in the country is alarming; causing the average person on the street to take to one form of entrepreneurship or the other.
It is hard to find a Nigerian household where there isn’t at least one entrepreneur. Despite the teeming numbers of those in business, doing business in Nigeria can be so frustrating.
From dealing with corrupt government officials to unfavorable power situations, the Nigerian entrepreneur already has his work cut out.
Amazingly, so many people have been known to rise above all the pitfalls to build enviable businesses that have created job opportunities for thousands of people. But the break out star in this peculiar situation is the Nigerian woman- so many of who are performing exploits and gaining recognition all around the world.
Traditionally, the expectation for most of these women is to stay at home to look after their husbands and children. However, situations such as the death of the husband and failed marriages have faulted this arrangement time and time again.
Also the uncertainty of the economy that may result in the breadwinner losing his job is also one of the many reasons why women have had to step out from the background.
Saddled with the responsibility of looking after her home and raising her children in the best way she can, the Nigerian woman has over the years broken through the greatest barriers to find a balance in creating an income flow and also looking after her family.
The Nigerian woman is an embodiment of talents, daring to create workable models despite the limitations placed upon her by the society.
The narrative has changed from when all that the Nigerian woman wanted to do was to sustain her family and lifestyle. There is a progression from women owning mini marts or selling fast street foods by the street corner, to being at the forefront of innovation.
Nigerian womenpreneurs are challenging the course of how things were done and also building enviable business empires while at it.
It is no wonder the one of the richest black women in the world is a Nigerian enterpreneur.
While talking at a recent event held in honour of women in tech, the U.S Ambassador to Nigeria, Ambassador Stuart Symington said “Nigerian women are highly talented like the American women in the movie Hidden Figures.
In a world of uneven salaries in the west and traditional societal standards in Africa, the Nigerian woman has dared to dream and behold the birth of a new economic class.

Honestly, women generally are trying from taking care of the family, going to work etc. Any man who refuse to take of his wife should be dealt with. African women are strong women.

Women are largely facing a deluge of issues ranging from keeping their homes together to maintaining an 8 to 12-hour jobs. It’s been hell on earth for women. The government is not even doing much to assist. Organizing seminars is the only means through which awareness is being created so as to iron out this issue.
Our women are rendered redundant, intellectually and entrepreneure wise. Time for Change is now!
