BBM Releases Update With Custom BBM PIN, etc

    0
By Stephen Amaza on February 25, 2015 Apps, News

In a new beta update for iOS that Blackberry is pushing, vanity PIN’s, removable ads and a new avatar badging feature are the new features that can be seen on the update.

The catch is that these new options come under a paid alternative called Subscriptions. Subscriptions can be purchased using available payment methods in the BBM Shop. Subscriptions is available at a monthly cost and requires ongoing payments to continue the subscription. For iOS beta testers, a free one-month trial of access to all BBM Subscriptions options is included.

The custom BBM PIN also known as vanity PIN allows users to choose their numbers. This could allow brands to choose a PIN with a meaning or for individuals to choose PINs that can be easily remembered. This costs $1.99 per month.

With the No Ads option, a Subscriptions user will no more receive sponsored ads and sponsored invites in BBM. This costs just $0.99 per month.

The Avatar Badge allows users to show off special BBM status with a badge. This badge also appears on display pictures that have an active subscription.

As this update is still in beta, these prices could change without warning. Blackberry had announced at CES earlier this year that it is planning to heavily monetize BBM so these changes do not come as much of a surprise. It will be interesting to see if this will be a hit and what else Blackberry has up their sleeve,
