    AI is something you’ve used if you’ve ever taken an Uber or had your Android or iPhone auto-correct a misspelled word. The term “artificial intelligence” (AI) seems to be cropping up everywhere these days, but what does it even mean? What positive effects does it have on our typical day-to-day activities? Although AI’s potential uses are vast, this article highlights seven that we actually make use of right now.

    Knowing what artificial intelligence actually is will help in determining its effects on our daily lives (and what it is not). The term “artificial intelligence” (AI) is used to describe a computer’s or machine’s ability to learn, solve problems, make decisions, and understand natural language, all of which are typically associated with human intelligence.

    This procedure is fully automated. Automated systems with artificial intelligence, such as Talkie AI,  can learn from past interactions and modify their responses to better fit the needs of the user or persuade them to adopt new habits. Clearly, much more could be said, and this is only a very brief explanation of what artificial intelligence is.

    Artificial intelligence (AI) relies heavily on machine learning (ML), deep learning (DL), and natural language processing (NLP) (NLP). Machine learning, also known as ML, is the process by which computers can improve their responses by analysing large, structured data sets and receiving constant feedback from human operators and other machine learning systems.

    Since Deep Learning is a form of ML that also learns through representation, it is commonly assumed to be the most advanced form of ML. However, the data it uses can be as unstructured as desired. One linguistic tool used in the field of computer science is called Natural Language Processing (NLP). It paves the way for machines to understand speech. Using natural language processing, computers can understand and respond to human inputs.

    Real-World Applications of AI That Help Us Daily

    Artificial intelligence (AI) technologies are being applied across many sectors to enhance productivity, precision, and the user experience. Some common everyday examples of Artificial Intelligence (AI) include:

    1. The use of Maps to find our way around the world

    The use of AI has greatly enhanced the convenience of travelling. Now, you can simply pull out your phone and use Waze, Google, or Apple Maps to get where you need to go. The question is, how does an app figure out where to go? And what about the best route, roadblocks, and gridlock? Satellite-based GPS was previously the only option, but now AI is being incorporated to provide users with an even better service.

    Better visualisations on the map, as well as recognition and understanding of house and building numbers, are made possible by machine learning algorithms that remember the edges of the buildings that it has learned. The app has also been trained to recognise when there has been a shift in traffic patterns, so that it can suggest an alternative route that will take the user around slowdowns and congestion.

    2. Face-Recognition Technology and Its Applications

    Examples of AI that are now commonplace include the use of virtual filters on our faces when taking pictures and the use of face ID to unlock our phones. The former is equipped with face detection, allowing for the identification of any human face while the latter makes use of technologies that enable the recognition of individual human faces. Surveillance and security systems at government buildings and airports also use facial recognition technology.

    3. Applications which recommend text-editing solutions or auto-corrects a typo

    In word processors, texting apps, and everywhere else you might type something, AI algorithms using machine learning, deep learning, and natural language processing will point out where you’ve gone wrong and offer a solution. Linguists and computer scientists collaborate to teach grammar to machines in the same way that humans were educated in the subject. High-quality language data is used to train the algorithms, so any incorrect comma usage will be flagged by the editor.

    4. Algorithms for Search and Recommendation Systems

    Have you noticed that movie and shopping suggestions often match your interests or recent searches? After observing your online behaviour for some time, these sophisticated recommendation systems will make personalised suggestions based on what they’ve learned about you and what you like. Machine learning and deep learning are used to store and analyse the data that is gathered at the front end (from the user). It can then make educated guesses about what you like and recommend products, music, and more.

    5. Chatbots, or Automated chat programs

    Through natural language processing (NLP), chatbots are trained to mimic the speech patterns of human customer service agents. Modern chatbots can process a wider variety of inputs than just yes/no questions. As a result, they are able to provide in-depth responses to difficult questions. If you don’t like a bot’s answer, it will fix the mistake for the next time, making sure customers are happy.

    6. Use of AI Algorithms for Social Media

    Apps for social media platforms are increasingly relying on the assistance of artificial intelligence (AI) to perform a wide range of tasks, including monitoring content, suggesting connections, and serving advertisements to users based on specific criteria, all with the goal of keeping users engaged and “plugged in.”

    Through the use of keyword identification and visual image recognition, AI algorithms can quickly identify problematic posts that violate terms of service and remove them. This process relies heavily on the neural network architecture of deep learning, but that’s not all it uses.

    As a result, social media platforms employ AI to facilitate communication between their users and the businesses that have determined they would be interested in advertising to them based on their profiles. It is also possible for social media AI to learn what a user enjoys and then recommend more of the same to them.

    7. Electronic, or Digital Payments

    Why haven’t you been to a bank branch in 5 years? The reason is Artificial intelligence (AI). Artificial intelligence is now being used by financial institutions to improve the customer experience by streamlining the payment process.

    Due to the use of AI for security, identity management, and privacy controls, it is now possible to open accounts, make deposits, and transfer funds from anywhere in the world. By keeping an eye on how cardholders spend their money, it is possible to spot fraud on credit cards. That’s an AI example, too. Based on a user’s buying habits, like the types of products they buy, how often they buy them, and where they buy them, algorithms can figure out how much money they have to spend.
