Are Facebook Groups Still Relevant for Business in 2025?

By Mabel Azara Tswanya on February 26, 2025 Social Media

In the past, if you were looking to do online business on any social media platform, the instant go-to was Facebook Groups. This was a feature on the app known to drive engagement and connect with potential customers who could double as friends and build a community.

But it seems that Facebook is long past its prime and the rise of TikTok, X (formerly Twitter), and WhatsApp Communities have dethroned the age-old app. In the face of this new era, this begs the question: Are Facebook Groups still worth it in 2025?

The short answer is yes, Facebook Groups have their unique place, but the long answer is a bit more complex than that.

    1. The Power of Niche Communities

Social media trends may come and go, but people’s widespread love for exclusive group memberships is everlasting. Facebook Groups are still thriving because they are skilled in drawing people into these exclusive groups. The only groups that win in 2025 are highly targeted and valuable to their members.

These groups could include a niche space for freelancers, tech enthusiasts, local businesses, fashion lovers and so on. If a brand provides real value then it is still reaping the benefits.

    2. Organic Reach Is Higher Than Pages

One of the biggest struggles for businesses on Facebook is the decline of organic reach on Pages. If a business owner doesn’t pay for ads, it’s difficult to get their posts seen.

With Facebook Groups, however, there is an entirely different algorithm. This feature prioritizes posts from active groups. This means businesses can still get free visibility if they create an engaged group, as long as it is well-moderated-.

    3. Facebook Groups for Direct Engagement and Customer Support

Facebook Groups is still one of the best ways to interact with customers. Many businesses use them as customer support hubs, where users can ask questions, share experiences, and get updates.

This direct line of communication makes customers feel more like family, building trust and loyalty. This is essential for thriving in today’s competitive and over-commercial space.

    4. Monetizing Facebook Groups in 2025

In 2025, businesses have expanded the scope of Facebook groups beyond engagement and use it to drive sales and make money. With features like paid subscriptions, exclusive content, and direct product promotions, companies are turning community members into paying customers.

    5. The Rise of Private Facebook Communities

In a bid to stay relevant, 2025 saw Facebook make a shift from public groups to private, invite-only communities. As we said before, people crave authenticity and exclusivity, and businesses that provide a safe, valuable space for discussions are thriving.

Final Verdict: Still Relevant But Must Adapt.

In conclusion, these groups will stay relevant in 2025 even as their competitors stay on the rise. Businesses that treat Facebook Groups as valuable communities, not just marketing channels, are seeing real results.

The issue comes when people begin to spam these groups. While this seemed to work in times past, this is more like a nuisance than anything in today’s world and spurs people to leave.

So, should your business still use Facebook Groups? The answer is yes.
