The Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) is inviting ambitious African entrepreneurs to apply for their Entrepreneurship Programme (TEF2024). Successful applicants will have the chance to receive non-refundable seed capital of $5,000 to help bring their business dreams to life.

Applying for Tony Elumelu’s grant is a straightforward process that can be done through the TEF website. Applicants are urged to present their innovative business concepts, potential for expansion, and plans to contribute to their communities’ economic development. The selection process is thorough, aimed at identifying entrepreneurs with the vision and capacity to effect positive change across the continent.

In the future, the Tony Elumelu Foundation plans to broaden its influence via the Coalition for African Entrepreneurs. This initiative aims to assist 100,000 entrepreneurs by 2033, with a focus on fragile states, women’s entrepreneurship, and green businesses. Tony Elumelu’s grant is key to this mission, exemplifying the foundation’s commitment to fostering sustainable and inclusive economic growth throughout Africa.

Since its establishment in 2010, the Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) has been dedicated to empowering African entrepreneurs. With the initiation of its flagship Entrepreneurship Programme, the Foundation has formed partnerships with many organizations to champion entrepreneurship across Africa.

Collaborations include those with bodies like the International Committee for the Red Cross (ICRC), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Sémé City, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), and more.

These partnerships with regional and international groups foster cooperation and strategic networking, improving market accessibility for African entrepreneurs.

In 2021, the Tony Elumelu Foundation awarded a remarkable $24.75 million to 5,000 African entrepreneurs, making it one of the most significant private sector responses to the economic difficulties confronted by African youth, women, and SMEs throughout the COVID-19 crisis.

Impressively, recipients of the programme have collectively generated over 400,000 direct and indirect jobs, considerably aiding the continent’s economic recuperation and growth.
