Global society is faced with one of the major challenges which are equal and equitable access to quality education. Socio-economic status, gender, race, geography, and disability play a huge role in when and how we learn and the resulting opportunities education presents. The covid-19 pandemic has added more to the challenges and erased more than 20 years of progress. EduTech can serve as a key to tackle these issues. Innovative education technology solutions tackle the challenges to make quality education a right for everyone, not a privilege. Additionally, students who currently enrolled in accredited institutions of higher education have unique perspectives, expertise, and empathy to design technological solutions to a global problem.
$37,000 EduTech Call for Code Challenge
The Education Innovation Case Competition seeks innovative technology solutions that tackle a challenge aligned to attain equitable and accessible quality education. To be a part of this challenge, teams of five students who enroll in an accredited higher institution have to design solutions that:
- Broaden educational opportunities for women who continue to encounter steep societal and structural barriers.
- Solves the challenge of educational inequality that is usually attributed to underserved communities
- Democratize access to quality learning for all, in an increasingly digital world.
The ICT4Edu solution should show how technology can assist communities in need globally. The solution submissions do not have to include working code, but applicants have to explain the required technologies and how the technologies can fit in the solution.
Teams will compete for $37,000 in prize and each of the students from the winning team will be invited to apply to IBM job opportunities.
