Applications are now open for the sixth edition of the OceanHub Africa accelerator, a comprehensive 12-month program dedicated to supporting up to 24 of Africa’s most promising for-profit startups that are focused on the preservation and restoration of ocean health. This initiative will be conducted over two distinct intakes, scheduled for March and July.

OceanHub Africa is committed to fostering and nurturing businesses that are not only environmentally conscious but also profit-driven. The accelerator aims to tackle pressing global challenges such as climate change, the overexploitation of marine resources, and ocean pollution. The organizers emphasize their dedication to cultivating an economy that effectively addresses these critical issues.

“Our accelerator is dedicated to nurturing ventures that are both environmentally responsible and financially viable. We aim to create an ecosystem that actively combats global warming, the overuse of ocean resources, and pollution. By leveraging our extensive network of stakeholders and facilitators, we provide an innovative hybrid program designed to identify sustainable pathways that ensure stable returns on investment (ROIs) and opportunities for scalable growth throughout Africa,” stated the organizers.

The sixth cohort of this 12-month acceleration program is set to support a total of 24 ventures, with applications being reviewed on a rolling basis. This allows for flexibility and encourages interested startups to apply early.

Startups that join the OceanHub Africa portfolio will gain access to a global ocean-impact ecosystem, providing them with invaluable networking opportunities with leading ocean experts, mentors, self-development coaches, alumni, impact investors, and potential clients and collaborators. Participants will receive hands-on support tailored to accelerate their growth and enhance their business models.

The hybrid-format program includes a one-week in-person bootcamp, participation in the annual Ocean Innovation Africa Summit, and a series of remote sessions utilizing various online tools and communication methods. This structure ensures that participants benefit from both in-person engagement and the flexibility of remote learning.

Additionally, the program offers an impressive package of resources, including up to $75,000 in AWS credits and over $40,000 worth of mechanical engineering design software licenses for prototyping and virtual testing, generously provided by 3DExperience Lab. Participants will also enjoy a range of other perks designed to support their entrepreneurial journey.

    Applications are open here.
